You Shouldn’t Have Come Here: A Wild Ride Through Suspense and Romance

OMG! Let me just say it right off the bat: I absolutely adore Jeneva Rose! Her knack for crafting heart-throbbing, utterly unputdownable stories is nothing short of a gift. When I dove into You Shouldn’t Have Come Here, I was instantly hooked. This book is a perfect blend of tension and twists that kept me on my toes, and trust me, by the time I reached the ending, I was laughing like a maniac for nearly an hour. The sheer brilliance of it has me still buzzing!

The story revolves around two narrators: Grace Evans, a finance worker from New York, and the swoon-worthy Calvin Wells, a ranch owner in Wyoming. Seeking an escape, Grace randomly selects an Airbnb — and boy, does she get more than she bargained for! The place is a creaking, shadowy structure filled with taxidermied animals and looming wild creatures ready to wreak havoc. As Grace plops her bags down in this haunted house, she quickly realizes she shouldn’t have come to this remote ranch. The dark secrets that lurk within its walls are only outmatched by the complex dynamics of the townsfolk.

And Calvin? Oh boy! He’s more than just a ridiculously attractive homeowner with abs that might as well have a fan club. He’s love-sick, brooding, and oh-so-charming. As their connection deepens, you can’t help but root for them amidst the chaos. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves; the townspeople are far from welcoming. Enter jealous ex-friends and a local drunk who stalks Grace from behind a window—it’s like a recipe for disaster that you just can’t look away from.

One of the standout aspects of Rose’s writing is her brilliant ability to build tension. With every page, the stakes keep rising, and you feel as if you’re walking a tightrope of suspense. The pacing is spot-on, leaving no room for dull moments. I appreciated how the narrative kept me guessing who was trustworthy and who was hiding truths. This really made the reading experience exhilarating!

There’s even a passage that struck me, highlighting the essence of trust: "Can you truly escape your past when it clings to you like the shadows in a haunted house?" That quote echoed in my mind long after I closed the book. It encapsulated Grace’s struggle perfectly—caught between wanting to enjoy her brief escape and the ominous warnings lurking around her.

Overall, You Shouldn’t Have Come Here is an exhilarating ride through suspense and romance, infused with enough creepy charm to keep you up at night (in a good way!). I give it a solid 5 stars, plus a generous helping of villanelle laughs. If you’re looking for a book that combines thrilling tension with a dash of romance and plenty of unpredictable characters, then grab your copy now! Just make sure to read it somewhere bright—those shadows might just reach out to you!
