Jessie is forced to find new friends when her  best friend betrays her and her other friend stands idly by. Jessie’s only real hope of ever being cool was destroyed when Bizza went after her long time crush, Van, and ended their friendship. Jessie’s usually cool big brother is acting strange and she isn’t quite sure what to think about it. Things seem to be falling apart until she meets up with a really nice group of kids. That’s all well and good…except that they’re nerds. Uber nerds. Like, Dungeons and Dragons nerds.

I picked this up in the library last week when I was browsing the new books shelf in the YA section. The title popped out at me, most likely due to the fact that I’m a self-professed nerd. If you’ve met me, you know what I mean. I probably shouldn’t have liked this as much as I did, but it was such a lighthearted and fun read. I literally laughed out loud SO many times while I read this. It sounds silly too, but I understood where Jessie was coming from and I was totally rooting for her. We’ve all been put into awkward situations and had to fight our way out of them. Unfortunately, I also know what it feels like to have a friend betray you. This would be a great read for teens at that really awkward stage who are dealing with complicated friendships. I’m so glad that I picked this up on a whim and gave it a try!
