Zara is shipped off to Maine to live with her step-grandmother after the unusual death of her beloved step-father. After months of feeling depressed, Zara is finally starting to get the hang of things and is starting to feel a little more normal. That is, she feels normal until the pixie dust begins appearing and a strange man follows her wherever she goes. Teenage boys begin disappearing, and Zara and her friends find some very strange clues while they are on the hunt for answers. Can Zara be the hero without putting herself into more danger?
First of all, HELLO beautiful cover! You all know me and know that I can’t help but be drawn by a beautiful cover. I saw this in the library and hadn’t heard a thing about it, but I was willing to give it a go. I’m so glad I did! Zara is in so many ways your average teenager, but she’s also so much more than that. I love that Jones introduces a love interest (I’m not telling who; you’ll have to read!), but their relationship is very much one on the rocks. She kept me guessing a bit, too.
Great job, Carrie Jones! I can’t wait to get my hands on the 2nd book in the series, Captivate.
